The mechanism
How it actually works.
Your autonomic nervous system is constantly responding to what's happening around you and within you.
One part of this system is associated with the body's stress response — increased alertness, muscle tension, changes in breathing and heightened arousal.
Another part is associated with rest, digestion and recovery.
When we're under ongoing pressure, it can sometimes become difficult to truly switch off. The body can remain tense, the mind can stay busy and genuine rest can feel harder to access.
My sessions are designed to create the conditions for slowing down.
A quiet environment. Gentle, sustained touch. A predictable sequence. Focused attention. And a practitioner who is fully present with you.
These elements can support a sense of safety, relaxation and connection, allowing you the opportunity to pause and settle.
What Steve brings
My approach is also shaped by my own experience.
Through my years in the Australian Defence Force and security, remaining calm and composed under pressure was part of the environment I worked in.
That experience taught me the importance of presence, awareness, grounding and staying regulated when situations become demanding.
Today, I bring that same sense of calm presence into my practice.
I don't see my role as simply performing a technique. I create a space where you can slow down, feel supported and reconnect with yourself.
It's more than one modality
The way I work isn't based on Reiki alone.
Over the years, my practice has evolved into an integrated approach combining Fusion Acupressure, Reiki, Medical Qi Gong, and Energy Medicine.
I draw from these approaches according to the individual rather than following exactly the same process with everyone.
There is no one-size-fits-all session.
You don't have to believe
You don't have to arrive believing in Reiki, energy or any particular healing philosophy.
In fact, many people who come to me are simply curious. Some are unsure. Some are openly sceptical.
That's completely okay.
Belief isn't a requirement. An open mind is enough.
My aim isn't to convince you of anything.
It's to give you an experience, create space for you to slow down, and allow you to discover what the experience means for you.
You don't have to believe in what I do to give yourself permission to experience it.
